My Story
In addition to being an active performing artist, I work with singers, from all over the world, helping them realize their dream of becoming professional vocalists. In addition to vocal technique, interpretation, and performance skills, I teach singers the mindset required for success in the music business.
Welcome to the musical journey of Estonian Soprano Katrin Targo, an accomplished professional singer and experienced vocal teacher.
My career as a musician began at the age of 5, culminating first in piano studies at the Tallinn Music High School, where I majored as a concert pianist and piano teacher under the guidance of professors Ülle Sisa and Lembit Orgse, earning my diploma in 1998.
I later shifted my focus to opera singing, graduating with my first Master of Arts degree from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2007.
Continuing my pursuit of musical excellence, I continued my studies and earned a second Master of Arts degree in Musical Dramatical Performance from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2012, studying with renowned mentors like Claudia Visca, Paul Esterhazy, Reto Nickler, and Christoph U. Meier. I have been enriching my artistry through masterclasses and private studios with megastars of the world of classical vocal music like KS Grace Bumbry, and amazing vocal coaches like Kristin Okerlund (Wiener Staatsoper) and others.
Katrin Targo's talent has been recognized with numerous accolades, including prizes at prestigious competitions such as the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship in Tallinn, the Mart Saar-Singing Competition in Suure-Jaani, the Johannes Brahms Singing Competition in Prtschach, the Imrich Godin International Singing Competition in Vrable, and the Antonn Dvork Competition in Karlovy Vary.
As a versatile performer, Katrin has graced opera stages, making her debut at the Estonian Puppet Theatre and performing in roles like Pamina, Donna Anna, Frau Fluth, Giulietta, Juliet, Cleopatra, Musetta, Lauretta, and Tatyana. Her repertoire extends to oratorio solos and performances in prestigious venues such as Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral.
Katrin Targo is not only a sought-after performer but also a dedicated vocal teacher. Her teaching journey began in her teenage years, and she continues to inspire and guide students of all ages.
Beyond her roles on the stage, Katrin has released CDs featuring art songs by composers like Alban Berg, Samuel Barber, Hugo Wolf, Mozart, and Schubert.
Join Katrin Targo on this harmonious adventure, where her passion for music and dedication to nurturing talent shine through every note.
